Nordvej Fire Station

A fire station for a combined full-time and on-call crew, on the ring road north of Hillerød. Response time set the plan: from any bed or desk in the building to the engine hall takes less than forty seconds.

The engine hall is a concrete box. The crew rooms sit on top of it, clad in standing-seam zinc, with a long window that looks back over the town.

Kitchen, training room and gym face south onto a planted yard, so the crew have somewhere decent to wait between call-outs.
